Medical Help

If you feel under the weather, your first port of call should be the local chemist (farmacia). There are 8 in the area, all marked on the Local Map. You'll find them very helpful and they speak good English. They will usually advise a remedy or if a visit to the doctor is necessary.

If you need to see a doctor and are covered by holiday or private medical insurance, one of the private surgeries is the place to go (see map for locations). Remember to keep all receipts for any medical treatment and medication to enable you to claim on your insurance when you return home.

If you have a valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) you can receive state treatment at the Spanish National Health clinic (Insalud) in Avenida Cas Saboners opposite Playa Cas Saboners Apartments. Tel: 971 131502. You will usually be expected to pay up to 40% of the cost of prescribed medicines (pensioners should be able to claim this back using the EHIC).
